Our Community

The Riviera Estates Association is one of three Homeowners Associations in the Riviera Section of Pacific Palisades, California. (The other two are the California Riviera Homeowners Association and the Upper Riviera Homeowners Association.) Ours is comprised of 147 properties and 7 common areas, which we either own or maintain, as seen on the map. A 5-person Board of Directors, who are unpaid volunteers, is elected by our membership at our annual meeting in December, and the Board meets monthly to discuss and manage neighborhood issues.

The REA was created as a Corporation in 1925. Our deed firmly states that there is a “limitation on the right to drill or operate any oil well, or to excavate for stone, grave, or earth, or place a cemetery upon the property,” and our founding documents prohibit residents from opening blacksmith shops or tanneries. We have moved from those issues to solar panels, landscaping our common areas, approving construction projects, and combating noise pollution from illegal leaf blowers.

Our purpose is to enforce our Conditions, Covenants and Restrictions (CC&Rs) so as to maintain our neighborhood as one of the best in the Los Angeles Area. Our Architectural Guidelines explain the permit process and details of our construction parameters, and we also have a process for obtaining permission for filming. A yearly assessment, based on lot size, is levied on our members to cover our expenses.

Members can get involved by volunteering for a committee or by starting a committee in an area of interest.

Board Meetings

We encourage you to attend one of our regular Board meetings, which are usually held on the second Monday of each month. Meeting dates are posted on the community calendar, as well as a hard copy on the bulletin board located at North Park.
